I'm Shane. For those of you who don't already know me welcome to the Chaos that is my life. Join me as I travel around the world on a sailboat. I walked away from a great career as a professional firefighter, a large luxurious home, everything I owned and even gave away my best friend Drake the dog. Why you ask? To travel the world on a boat. Cruising to foreign places all at 5 mph. From the Caribbean now to South America soon, I hope you will dig reading about all the ridiculous situations I will no doubt get myself into as I continue trying to adjust to this radical life switch.
*Update* So after over a year of not blogging I'm going to start again. I am spending the summer season on Catalina Island of the coast of California living onboard a 65 foot diveboat and teaching diving. I'm sure there will be plenty of chaos to follow.

By the way you bunch of freaks....you can leave comments, it's good to hear from you whether you are ripping me or giving me props. Just leave an anonymous one if you are too much of a pussy to write one.

It'll be hard to top what Jeff posted. Your friends are all still here so take solace in that. We're not going anywhere. As for having a touch of home sickness. The grass is always greener.......in the midst of the grind it’s just that, a grind......but, when the mind has time to become nostalgic, that lack of monotonous hell will make you long for it. That’s some witty shit that I came up with so take note!
You made the right decision. Most won't get it because it wouldn't have been the right thing for them to do. Take that wrenching and slam it on some paper. Straight writing might not lend itself to the blues but a bit of poetry might do the trick. Embrace it and it will pass. It always does.
Enjoy this thing that you have gathered up the courage to do. Not many have the balls to live the types of lifestyles that we live. Even less, the ability to pull up ties and go on the adventure of a lifetime. I’ve told Laurel that when I’m laying on my death bed, I don’t want to feel like I’ve missed out on life. You have that same quality in you. Take life by the balls and squeeze until the cocksucker submits. You only have one round to do the things you want so make no apologies and go full throttle.

Hey bro what's up with this bumbed out attitude? Take a good look around, you're following your dream. Yeah its sad that you can't share it with us in person, but we all are following along closely. We all feel pretty god damn proud of for taking the leap. HUGE STONES!!! Things stay the same around here, but everyday you're off on a new adventure, some exotic island, with hot native babes. Who does that kind of shit anyways? By the way, did you take some writing class or something? You're writing is "Very Nice".
Anyways, hang in there bro, you can always come back, but you may never have this opportunity again.
Just keep fixing the stuff on the boat, post you novel long blogs, and quite your bitchin'. Or else I'll fly CH Henry out to hang with you for a week....
Kacey want to say hi, she reads your blogs weekly and we're planning on joinning you in the near future.
BE SAFE!

Oh I forgot, you BBQ looks awesome in our backyard.......
"Living the Dream" is what a lot of us say when asked, how we are doing?. I only know one person that is definetly doing that.... and it's Captain Chaos. Things might not seem right at times, but in the long run, you'll realize that the low moments were nothing compared to rest of your adventure. You are doing things that a lot of us can only dream of, and we are living them through you. If i had to choose a person to go and make us live an adventure through their eyes, you are the best person for it.
Your Blog is how all of us are sharing your experiences, and once some of us start visiting, you'll find yourself wanting alone time......
Kenny says Hi, and your T.O. coat should be up this week.

You are deeply missed as well, but your strength, courage, and desire to follow that dream of yours is exactly why you are loved by so many. Hope this brings you comfort.....
This Year Is Yours
God built and launched this year for you;
Upon the bridge you stand;
It's your ship, aye, your own ship
And you are in command.
Just what the twelve months' trip will do
Rest wholly, solely, friend with you!
Your log book, kept from day to day
My friend what will it show?
Have you on your appointed way
Made progress...yes or no?
The log will tell, like guiding star,
The sort of Captain that you are.
Contrary winds of oft beset,
Mountainous seas may press,
Fierce storms prevail and false light lure,
You even may know real stress.
Yet, does God's hand hold fast the helm,
There's naught can e'er your ship o'erwhelm.
For weal or woe, this year is yours;
For ship on life's sea;
Your acts, as captain, must decide
Whichever is shall be;
So now, in starting on your trip,
Ask God To help you sail your ship.
Flower in the crannied wall,
I pluck you out of the crannies,
I hold you here, root and all, in my hand,
Little flower-but if I could understand
What you are, root and all, and all in all,
I should know what God and man is.
